- A homemade strawberry simple syrup that’s stirred into a tall glass of cold milk

Ingredients
- Strawberries: for the fresh strawberry milk in the blender, I use fresh strawberries, but you could also use thawed frozen berries. (Unless you want more of a smoothie texture, in which case you can use them frozen. For the strawberry syrup, you can use fresh or frozen berries.
- Milk: You can use any type of milk, dairy or nondairy
- Sugar: If you’re making the fresh strawberry milk in the blender, add sugar or other sweetener to taste. For a sugar-free alternative, we like an erythritol sweetener like Lakanto. Both sugar and erythritol can be used in the syrup.

Combine strawberries, milk, and sweetener (if using) in a blender and blend until smooth
How to make with a homemade strawberry syrup
Prepare the strawberry syrup:
- In a saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then turn the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. The berries will soften and lose their bright color and the liquid will be deep red.
- Strain the strawberries out of the simple syrup through a fine mesh strainer, being careful not to press down on the berries or the syrup will be cloudy.
- Chill the strawberry syrup until cold

We love keeping a bottle of homemade strawberry syrup in the fridge so we can have strawberry milk in a moment’s notice. This Strawberry Syrup recipe makes about 2 cups of syrup and lasts for up to 3 weeks in the fridge. Simply stir 2-4 tablespoons of syrup into a glass of milk.

What kind of sweetener can I use?
We like sugar in our strawberry milk, or an erythritol sugar substitute like Lakanto because it doesn’t interfere with the pure taste of the strawberries. You could make it with honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, or any sweetener you prefer.
What are the best strawberries to use?
Summer strawberries at the peak of ripeness will give the freshest strawberry flavor. Frozen strawberries are also usually picked and frozen when at the peak of ripeness.
Can I make this strawberry milk vegan?
Yes, just use non-dairy milk for a vegan beverage.
