Bold claim: a Milanese jewelry house dives into the U.S. market with a bold collaboration that reimagines its signature symbol. DoDo, the playful Italian jeweler known for its charm-focused pieces, has landed in Miami for Art Basel. In a first for the brand, DoDo partners with acclaimed contemporary artist Sanford Biggers to unveil a limited capsule at Art Basel Shop Miami Beach.
The collection accompanies Biggers’ guest-artist run for Art Basel Shop Miami Beach and reinterprets DoDo’s iconic Cloud motif through the artist’s distinctive lens. Biggers, a versatile American artist whose work often explores movement, transformation, and connectivity, is known for monumental pieces like 2021’s Oracle, a 15,000-pound bronze sculpture of a seated Zeus composed of African masks, once showcased at Rockefeller Center in New York.
This time, he scales down the grandeur to transform a DoDo cloud into four exclusive charms designed to be worn as keepsakes. The designs draw inspiration from Biggers’ Unsui series, which features large-scale cloud forms that translate into new expressions in this Miami release.
Each charm is handcrafted in Italy and personally signed by Biggers. The set includes two small charms in sterling silver and 9-karat rose gold with black diamonds, a medium charm in sterling silver, and a large sculptural Cloud charm in sterling silver.
The DoDo x Sanford Biggers Cloud Charms are part of a broader Biggers collection for the Art Basel Shop, which also features his playful cloud motifs across hoodies, totes, mirrors, and more. DoDo describes this as the first jewelry collaboration carried by the Art Basel Shop Miami Beach.
DoDo’s chief executive officer, Teejana Beenessreesingh, notes that the brand emerged from Milan’s avant-garde fusion of art, design, and fashion. The move to the U.S. market, she explains, centers on empowering creativity through this exclusive collaboration tied to Sanford Biggers’ installation and sold exclusively at Art Basel Shop.
DoDo originated as a lighter, charm-centric line in 1994 under Italian jewelry house Pomellato, later becoming part of Kering in 2013. The new leadership under Beenessreesingh is reportedly steering DoDo toward renewed growth, aiming to boost desirability and strengthen its position in luxury gifting.
